Kany Kanye’s new album Jesus Is King has sold 276,000 units in its first week in US and debuted at number one on Billboard 200. This marks Kanye’s 9th album to achieve this accolade.

Kanye also tied Eminem as the artist with the most consecutive number one albums in US history. Each artists now have nine consecutive #1 albums in the country.

Eminem:

• The Marshall Mathers LP

• The Eminem Show

• Encore

• Curtain Call: The Hits

• Relapse

• Recovery

• The Marshall Mathers LP2

• Revival

• Kamikaze

Kanye West

• Late Registration

• Graduation

• 808s & Heartbreak

• My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

• Watch The Throne (with Jay Z)

• Yeezus

• The Life of Pablo

• Ye

• Jesus Is King

NOTE: For Eminem, “Hell: The Sequel” doesn’t count because it’s not a solo effort as Royce and Eminem released the album as a duo.

For Kanye West, “Watch The Throne” counts, because Jay Z and Kanye made the album as two different artists’ solo effort. It was not released as a duo. For the same reason, Kids See Ghosts doesn’t count, because Kid Cudi and Kanye released the album as a duo named Kids See Ghosts, which debuted at #2, thus it won’t hurt Kanye West’s “consecutive number ones.”
